Sir,
Thank you for your assurances on f.w.d. drive shaft safety. Until reading the correspondence section I had been most concerned about the well-defined “full lock knock” which developed in both Birfield joints of my B.M.C. Mini Traveller at about 34,000 miles. It is a great relief to know that my vehicle is not potentially dangerous as I enjoy it almost as much as its Beetle predecessor. Incidentally, I can think of two friends faced with the same problem to add to your count.
