A Question of Justice
The Mayor of Stourbridge, Clr. H.R. Stephens, has declined to serve on the local Bench, quoting his dislike of unfair fines imposed on road-users. He is quoted as saying : “Only recently I have heard of two people with previous records who were fined £10 for shoplifting, while in the same Court a motorist was fined £20 for a driving offence. . I have heard of persistent criminals time and time again being given another chance while traffic offenders are given automatic fines arid penalties.”
