Note for commentators
Sir,
I deplore those Race-Track Commentators who keep exhorting the spectators to applaud. At the B.R.D.C.’s Silverstone Meeting we were directed to applaud sundry drivers; mechanics, officials and Royal personages, all of whom would have received their due without the interference of a “mike-happy” commentator.
Surely his duty is to report on the progress of the racing and to restore lost children to their owners, not to stimulate something which if not spontaneous is meaningless?
