Congratulations to Volkswagen of America on their splendid display advertisement which is appearing in the U.S. magazines. It deals with a University professor who has just bought a new VW after being satisfied for years with his old model-A Ford. Both these dependable cars are depicted in colour, standing side by side, and the owner is saying that his VW is very economical on gas but has used 50 cents’ worth of oil. “I thought they didn’t use oil,” he adds. Clever advertising, which the model-A Ford Register should enjoy.

We have just heard of a 1923 New Carden cyclecar, put up on blocks in a shed behind a house in Croydon in 1937 and found to have had its exit road built over early in the war. Maybe it is still there. Any clues?
