This group of over 250 photos is introduced by Mike Doodson and covers the whole of Nigel’s career. Divided into seven sections, from his early years to the USA and beyond, it includes on-track shots, the ‘Mansell Mania’ which seemed to follow him wherever he went and the occasional photo of the ‘collapsing episodes’; Sid Watkins gives his version of events in the introduction and kindly blames “Nigel to some extent for his discomfort” after snapping a tendon in his leg, running to check whether the (remarkably OK) Mansell was actually still alive. Rather than a biographical analysis, this book should be viewed as a celebration of a remarkable driver who won millions of fans around the world. EF
