How to...
…get started in motorsport. In the first of a new series, we profile the Speedwprks Ginette Scholarship
Want to go motor racing? Well you’ll need lots of money, a car, a mechanic, a sponsor, a race licence, a medical certificate, and some talent. Nothing major, then. But…
The Speedworks Ginetta Scholarship may just be the answer to all your prayers. Racing schools have thus far been the most attainable entry level for the aspiring driver but a scholarship extends a more exciting opportunity.
The Speedworks Ginette scheme will accept 200 candidates, all of whom will be offered personal tuition by race instructors at the wheel of a Ginetta G20 at the Llandow circuit during a series of test days in February and March.
The scholarship will be held over four rounds, which will result in a list of 10 drivers to be entered into the final. The winner will be offered a free season of racing in the AVO Ginetta Championship, driving for Speedworks Motorsport. The prize includes all preparations, running, licence, entry fees and any accident damage costs for 18 races in ’07.
“The aim is to get more people involved in the sport,” says Christian Dick of Speedworks. “And everyone will get something out of this.”
