Group 4 cars to star at last Montlhéry event

European sports prototype trophy cars will be one of the star attractions at what is touted to be the final ever race meeting at the famous Montlhéry circuit, near Paris, on June 19/20.

The Group 4 machines will tackle a one-hour, two-driver evening race on Saturday at the banked track.

“This is going to be the last meeting for Montlhery,” said the ESPT organiser Jonathan Baker. “It has one of the best atmospheres of any major historic event”

The owners of Montlhéry have refused to be swayed by an appeal to save the circuit from extinction, and 2004 looks set to be its last season.

The Gp4 calendar is also expected to include two races at Pau over the weekend of May 22/23.
