Plaque unveiled
A plaque was unveiled recently at the Fairmile (now Munro House) at Cobham to commemorate the work of Sir Noel Mackin, by members of the Invicta Car Club, Railton Owners Club and The Coastal Forces Heritage. This was possible with the assistance of Exchange Financial Services of Munro House. Sir Noel is remembered mainly for the Invicta sportscars and the Fairmile torpedo boats, and the earlier Eric Campbell and Silver Hawk cars. The plaque was unveiled by Mrs Sally Harrison, niece of Sir Noel and daughter of Mrs Hindmarsh (nee Cordery), whose husband won the Le Mans 24 Hours for Lagonda in 1935, and who herself broke many very long-distance records at Brooklands and Monza in an Invicta. The Invicta CC has some splendid enlarged photographs and a history of Invicta competition successes, etc. The secretary is Mrs Marion Rendall, Stanley Hall, Selsley, Stroud, Gloucestershire GL5 5LJ.
