Simon Thomas writes to say he has bought the 1935 Fiat Balilla which spent many years in Derbyshire, when it was thought to have been the one driven by Billy Sullivan in the 1936 Ulster TT. Further research shows it to be the Balilla which was raced by Ffrench-Davis in the 1936 and 1937 Us. It had engine trouble after 27 of the 35 laps in 1936 and blew the head gasket after 11 laps in 1937. In researching this, it has been discovered that the Balilla which won its class in the 1936 TT and finished 13th overall also still exists, to the delight of its owner.
