Peter Collins remembered
Sir,
Legends by Nigel Roebuck in the November issue captured the spirit of racing during the ’50s, and of Peter Collins the man.
I live a mile or so from the village of Shatterford where Peter lived, and can well remember the day he died, and the shock to the local community.
I attend his grave on 3 August each year and each time there is a small bunch of flowers on the grave. It is nice to think he is still remembered over 40 years on. Inside Stone Church there is a framed photograph of him in a racing Ferrari, and also a memorial window. Upon seeing these a lump still comes to my throat.
Thank you for featuring a true gentleman.
I AM, YOURS ETC,
Patrick Collins, Alveley, Gloucestershire
