A young automotive designer from Germany has been judged winner of the 1999 International Motoring Art Competition

Amateur artist Andrea Mindt beat 237 entries for the Ford-backed event, with a depiction of a Lancia D50 in acrylic on wood. Judges included Jody Scheckter, Tony Brooks, John Watson, Paul Stewart, Rowan Atkinson and Chris Rea.

The first prize brought with it a purse of £2000, while many of the works of art, including the winner, were auctioned in aid of the British Brain and Spine Foundation and the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund, BEN. MF
