Outrageous prices
Sir,
May I take up a little of your time to endorse the remarks in the letter of Mr Peter Biggs (Motor Sport, November 1988) concerning spectating at Silverstone?
Like Mr Biggs I have been a fairly regular visitor to Silverstone for about thirty years and have seen drastic “developments,” not always for the spectators’ benefit, allied to even more drastic price increases! I received today the advance publicity for next year’s British Grand Prix, and still feel shocked at the prices. To have to pay over £100 for two grandstand seats, not in the best positions, to see a Grand Prix that lasts barely more than one hour is way over the top, and to charge £30 each to stand round the side is even more outrageous.
.
I, for one, will have to remain content with BBC Television and will restrict my visits to club events where the atmosphere is still friendly and the cost reasonable. Long may they continue.
