Bertaggia's F3 double
Enrico Bertaggia added the prestigious Macau Grand Prix title on November 27 to his early-season victory on the Monaco GP support race, to complete a remarkable Formula Three double after a disappointing year in F3000.
British series regulars put up a strong showing, with Eddie Irvine’s Ralt-Alfa starting from pole position alongside JJ Lehto’s Reynard-Toyota. But Lehto crashed at the first corner and had to switch to his spare car for the re-start, later succumbing to clutch problems, while Irvine won the first of two heats before crashing at the first corner of the second!
German Otto Renting took the flag in his Reynard-Volkswagen, but Bertaggia was the winner on aggregate.
