MCC Exeter Trial

The MCC’s 54th Exeter Classic Trial will take place on January 7th & 8th, mainly in Devon and Somerset. Since two of the last four such trials have been snowed off. perhaps the proviso “DV & WP” should be added. The 300 entrants, of which about one third are motorcyclists, will start late on the Friday evening from Lewdown, Cirencester, and Reading, will meet for breakfast at Cricket St. Thomas Wildlife Park, near Chard — venison sausages, no doubt — before going on to tackle their 14 observed sections. Several of these will be in the woods around Fingle Bridge, where the competitors will be occupied from dawn until around mid-day on January 8th. Then they go to stopper-of-the-day Simms, some three miles SW of Bovey Tracey, before finishing in the early evening at Sidmouth.
