Club notes

• Congratulations to the winners of the 750 MC’s two racing championships. The Formula 1200 Championship went to Jonothan Rope while Stuart Gerrell is this year’s 750 Formula Champ after a close fight. GerrelI’s car used a Reliant engine as is the almost universal practice in 750 racing these days and during the weekdays is employed as a mechanic at a Reliant agency.

• The Nottingham Sports Car Club have run race meetings at Silverstone, Mallory Park and Croft for many seasons now and always with tremendous enthusiasm and efficiency. Now they are hoping for their own circuit and taking for a 1.25-mile track at Southwell near Rolleston-on-Dove in Nottinghamshire are at present before the local county council.

• To break the monopoly of racing films at club evenings secretaries may be interested to hear of a new film just issued by Fram Filters Ltd. This is a 23-minute colour production titled “Ahead in the Clouds” and was shot at the 1970 Farnborough Air Display. There is some spectacular flying as well as shots of many new military and commercial aircraft including the Concorde. The film is available from Fram Film Library, Fram Filters Ltd, Llantrisant, Pontyclun, Glam.

• The Veteran Car Club of Great Britain had 577 Full and 1,301 Associate Members And 77 Junior Members at the last count.

• The Vintage Motor-Cycle Club has more than 2,500 members. Its AGM takes place on March 28th and the National Mallory Park Race Meeting on April 25th. The Banbury Run is scheduled for June 20th.

• The Rolls-Royce EC continues to publish its excellent monthly Bulletin, edited by Derek Randall. The issue for last November not only listed 105 new members, but contained advertisements for pre-war R-R and Bentley cars, at uninflated prices.
