Speed alone doesn't kill
Sir,
I see that the M.O.T. have released the results of the 50 m.p.h. restrictions over July of this year. Road accidents a mere 3% up on the same period last year. Perhaps these will make sense to a certain person in power. The same person who quite readily quotes stark statistics on the hard-pressed motorist.
Just as a matter of interest, with reference to the heavy road deaths of the 1930’s, the M.O.T. might inquire into the average performance of the vehicles of that era. Or is the blame to fall once again on the “Brooklands Boys” of that day and age?
