1961 Team Drivers
With several new racing teams in the field for 1961 there is likely to be a shortage of drivers and some of the top drivers have still not joined their 1961 team. Ferrari has only retained Phil Hill, von Trips and Ginther, indicating that perhaps he will not be racing sports cars, while Cliff Allison has joined the new United Dominions Trust/Laystall team as the number one driver. Stirling Moss will occasionally drive one of the team’s Lotus sports cars as well as driving a Camoradi rear-engined Maserati in selected sports events and Rob Walker’s cars in F.1 and G.T. events. Dan Gurney will also drive a Camoradi Maserati. Henry Taylor will be number two in the U.D.T./Laystall team to Allison. Porsche have officially announced that Joakim Bonnier has joined them for both F. 1 and sports-car racing. Roy Salvadori will drive for Yeoman Credit.
