The Cape Record Broken
The England to the Cape record, held by the late Humphrey Symons and B. Browing who took 31 days 22 hours, in 1939, in an adventurous run in a Wolseley Twenty-Five, has been beaten by Ralph Sleigh and Peter Jopling, who have done the journey in 24 days 2 hours 50 minutes. They drove an Austin A70 and broke also the Algiers-Cape record, by three days 20 hours 55 minutes. The only trouble reported was failure of the speedometer.
