Leslie Johnson, who has taken over E.R.A., Ltd., is selling his well-known “Lago Special” Darracq. We wish him the best of luck in developing the E-type E.R.A. and getting it over its various malaises.
Alexander E. Ulmann, the American veteran and vintage car enthusiast, was in this country recently. He spent a week-end with Wing-Comdr. Woolf Barnato and we were able to show him the remains of Brooklands Track. He also went to Continental Cars, Ltd. and admired their fine show of fast cars, Oliver’s Type 35B Bugatti being started up in his presence. Ulmann owns a 45-h.p. Hispano-Suiza as well as one of the smaller Hispanos; incidentally, Kent Karslake has examples of both the 37.2 and 45-h.p. cars of this make.
The B.M.C.R.C. hope to run a motorcycle race on an entirely new circuit in the I.O.M. this year.
Congratulations to Rodney Clarke on winning the Bugatti Owners’ Club Victor Ludorum Trophy for 1947.
