Speaking to the Daily Mail, former F1 czar Bernie Ecclestone gave his take on Lewis Hamilton’slack of form and his future at Ferrari, saying, “I do not think it will be easy for Lewis. They will back Charles Leclerc. He is quick and has grown up there. If Lewis is fading, he should go away and do something else and do a good job at it. He is now one of the older generation – and did he not say he wanted to hear less from them?” The latter was a return barb to Hamilton’s previous shrugging off of Ecclestone’s criticism as representing a generation that was no longer relevant.
Yuki Tsunoda was held for three hours at US immigration as he entered the country for the Las Vegas GP. He claimed to have all the relevant documentation and the correct visa, and had experienced no difficulty entering the country for the races at Miami and Austin but that on this occasion they did not seem to believe his reason for visiting was to take part in the grand prix. Qatar’s buy-in to the Audi F1 project (thought to be for a 30% shareholding) was announced at the Qatar Grand Prix.
The confirmation that the former Andretti Global F1 project has been granted an entry to F1 from 2026 under the Cadillac banner came in the wake of Michael Andrettihaving stepped back from the team. GM – which owns the Cadillac brand – is set to be racing its own power unit from 2028 and will race for the first two years as a customer of an existing power unit manufacturer, with Ferrari the confirmed supplier.
