VSCC announce special plans for 2003 meetings
Next season the Vintage Sports-car Club will run speed events at Goodwood and Harewood for the first time. Running alongside the club’s hugely successful hillclimbs at Shelsley Walsh, Prescott, Wiscombe and Loton Park, the Yorkshire venue of Harewood will host a one-day hillclimb on August 23. A sprint at Goodwood will close the club’s speed season on October 18.
The calendar will open at Silverstone on April 12, with the club’s second Silverstone event coming just a month later. Over the weekend of May 17/18, the VSCC will join with the Historic Sports Car Club and Octagon Motorsport to run a classic and historic weekend.
The headline meeting of the year will be at Donington on June 21/22, when the 10th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s grand prix victory there will be marked.
Two weeks later, the club will be at Shelsley Walsh and will hold a celebration of Vauxhall’s centenary. It is hoped to arrange a large gathering of Vauxhall 30/98s. For the first time the hillclimb will be held on a Sunday, July 6.
