H&H Classic Auction has announced its first sale in London, which will be held at Olympia 2 on May 7. H&H is promising some special entries for its inaugural London auction of classic cars.

Having been held at Silverstone since 1949, the annual 8 Clubs race meeting has been dropped. Faced with ever-rising circuit hire cost, the amalgam of motor clubs has finally called time on the traditional low-key meeting, citing two years of financial losses as the reason.

Rising circuit hire costs have also forced the Aston Martin Owners’ Club to drop its traditional early May race meeting at Brands Hatch. The club will continue to organise race meetings at other venues, but cites the high cost of hiring the Kent track as the reason for dropping it from the club’s schedule in 2003

Just four crews from over 100 starters earned gold medals on the 2002 Le Jog. The four-day event from Lands End to John O’Groats took in many famous rally sections, but at the finish, the only claimants for the event’s top honours were Andrew Davies/ Jonathan Davies (Riley Special), Malcolm Pickering/Simon Rossiter (Sunbeam Rapier), Bart Rietbergen/ Ben Roetgerink (Volvo PV544) and Jayne Wignall/Kevin Savage (Porsche 356B).
