Guild honours Bill Boddy
Congratulations to our founder Editor Bill Boddy, MBE, who, as well as turning 90 in February, has been awarded Life Membership of the Guild of Motoring Writers.
WB could not attend the Guild’s Annual Dinner, but John Blunsden accepted an inscribed tankard on his behalf and read out a message from WB saying how much he appreciated the honour.
Bill is the longest-serving member still regularly working on a motoring title, having joined the Guild in its early post-war years — albeit somewhat by default.
“I went to a Guild test day at Goodwood, not knowing you had to be a member,” he recalls. “When I realised I had gatecrashed, I felt I had to join.”
