Home sweet home

Andrew Frankel

One of only 19 Zagato-bodied Aston Martin DB4 GTs ever to have been built recently returned to England, after a 30-year sojourn in Australia.

It was originally owned, and raced, by Laurie O’Niell, taking the GT lap record at Longford in 1963. It then passed on to Colin Hyams, who campaigned it with success throughout the 1965 season. Its third recorded owner. Alex Copland, acquired it in the late 1960s and chose to use it as everyday transport. Even so, it had clocked up only 42.000 miles from new when it was freighted back to the UK, where it Was put up for sale by Surrey dealer Philip Jones.
