Big chance for Hill Jnr!
Damon Hill, the 26-year-old son of former twice World Champion Graham Hill who was killed in a plane crash just over 11 years ago, has taken another step towards realising his ambition of emulating his father’s exploits. For his second season contesting the British Formula 3 championship, Hill Jnr will benefit from major sponsorship from the Cellnet cellular communications company in a two car team with Italian rising star Massimo Monti.
Hill demonstrated a promising turn of speed and plenty of versatility driving for Murray Taylor Racing in 1986 and hopes to sustain this momentum throughout 1987. He will be driving a Toyota-engined Ralt RT31 prepared by the Norfolk-based Intersport team operated by Glenn Waters, who was once Mario Andretti’s chief mechanic at Team Lotus.
