Roberts Takes to Four Wheels
Kenny Roberts, World 500 c.c. Motorcycle Champion in 1978/1979 will make his racing debut on four wheels in the Daytona 24 hours on February 2nd.
Roberts will drive a Pontiac Fire-Am in the 24 hour American classic, co-driven by off-road racing champion Walker Evans and Herb Adams. He knows Daytona well, having won the Daytona 200 in 1978 and using the circuit regularly for Goodyear tyre testing.
We trust that Roberts will follow more in the footsteps of John Surtees and Mike Hailwood than the latest two-wheel Champion to move to four wheels, Giacommo Agostini, who has proved no great shakes in either Formula 2 or Aurora Formula 1.
