Saloons v sports cars
Donington Park circuit’s management have taken the courageous step of promoting six-round Grand Touring Championship that caters for modified saloon and sports cars.
By accident it has been found that these two categories together can provide very entertaining racing. As an increasing number of sports cars are growing longer in the tooth, having passed from production some years previously (e.g. Elan, Marcos), this is a welcome fillip for such, machinery.
Donington plan to divide entries into four classes: over 2,500 c.c.; 1,501-2,500 c.c.; 1,001-1,500 c.c and up to 1-litre. The first five finishers in each class are to be rewarded on a scale that stretches from £20 to £60.
