Alfa Romeo comments
Sir,
Mr. Lowe should not be so directly aggressive towards the wealthy tycoons of today because some of these were the racing and sports car drivers of yesterday, and they are aware of Alfa’s characteristic.
Regarding Alfa Romeo now fitting automatic transmission, this addition is long overdue from this firm.
Having had Alfa Romeos for a few years I have often wondered why they did not fit automatic transmission to the 2.6 coupé which was introduced in 1963. A very goad road car and well advanced in its day.
I do not know what is meant by Alfa Romeo appeal, etc., but even Alfa must move with the times if they want to keep in business. I should think their new 2,000 c.c. with automatic box could be a very exciting car to drive, with an even better performance than their very good 1750.
How can you compare Citroën, Morgan, etc., with the motor car we are talking about? In Graham Hill’s words, “you must be joking!”.
