Tim Carson, late Secretary of the VSCC, was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List. The last issue of the “Frazer Nash Chain Gang Gazette” contained an excellent report of the 1971 Cutty Sark/Castrol/Dunlop/Renolds-supported Raid to the Nurburgring. There is to be a Parade of selected Austin Sevens at the July VSCC Silverstone Race Meeting. Further details of the forthcoming Austin 7 Golden Jubilee celebrations appear in the current issue of the A7 Club’s Association Magazine. A V16 Cadillac was seen near Paris on New Year’s Day. Mrs. W. H. Aldington’s 1935 BMW 319/2 cabriolet, which her husband bought tor about £100 in 1940 has been presented to David Blackburn, Chairman and Managing Director of BMW Concessionaires (GB) Ltd, and President of the BMW OC, who has had it completely restored. The seats, incidentally, are covered with English hide and the floor with deep-pile Axminster carpeting. Albert Henry Godfrey Girling, inventor of Girling brakes and manufacturer, with his two brothers, of the Girling 3-wheeler, died recently, aged 90. He drove a car up to the age of 75.
