British Win on the Monte

Although we go to Press before the final results of the Monte Carlo Rally are known it seems certain that Paddy Hopkirk and Henry Liddon have won the rally in their works Mini-Cooper S. Due to various incidents in the races which concluded the rally the remaining places are somewhat uncertain. Bo Ljungfeldt (Ford Falcon) was in fifth place on the road and had to make up 33 sec. on Eric Carlsson who was in second place. He did this with ease in his 3-lap race and should therefore finish second, but the issue is clouded by various protests over a previous race in which Peter Harper in another Falcon spun and blocked the road, causing the race to be stopped. The race was re-run but protests were made and as we close for Press no decision has been made. Pat Moss seems assured of the ladies’ prize in a works Saab.
