Course deCote Sierre-Montana NOTABLE BRITISH SUCCESSES

Notable British Successes

Forty-three entries were received for the Coupe de Noel hill-climb of December 21st last. The course, surfaced with beaten snow, was nine miles in length, embracing 22 hairpin bends. British cars secured an outstanding victory, Patthey’s Marshall-Nordec supercharged “TC” M.G. making f.t.d. in 15 min. 2.8 sec., while Onslow-Bartlett’s Mercury-Special was runner-up, in 15 min. 14.6 sec. Against this, note, Marty’s 3.5-litre Delahaye took 15 min. 41.8 sec., Taruffi’s Cisitalia 15 min. 59.4 sec., de Graffenried’s 16-valve Maserati, obviously hampered by the snow, 16 min. 19.5 sec., and Ruggeri ‘s Maserati 17 min. 34.2 sec. Bartlett won the prize for the most outstanding performance and also won the over 1,500-c.c. sports-car class. As a Continental report has it “Felieitons egalement l’Anglais Bartlett sur Mercury-Special sport de 4 litres, qui fit des prodiges dans les virages.” Patthey’s M.G. used a normal Marshall-Nordec blower installation but was otherwise in standard trim. We are glad to announce that North Downs Engineering Co. are now receiving enquiries from all over the world and are exporting many installations with complete success.
