Group C on La Sarthe bill
Bob Berridge, the driving force behind the resurgence of the Group C/GTP racing series, believes a return to the support race slot for the Le Mans 24 Hours next June will be another major boost to the category.
For the third time in five years, the cars of the 1980s will take the Saturday morning support race slot on June 16, ahead of the start of the 24-hour classic.
“With interest from ‘new’ owners, it looks as if we’ll enjoy another significant increase in grid numbers,” said Berridge. “We aim to see Group C at major European historic festivals, and are thrilled to be adding to this a support race for the greatest race in the world.”
The 2012 Group C season will start at Donington Park in early May and take in races at Spa, Silverstone, Paul Ricard and Portimao as well as the Le Mans event.
