I applaud in particular Simon Taylor’s Notebook column in the November issue regarding HSCC meetings. I would also encourage a visit to a VSCC meeting, where you will feel welcome and will not be charged a fortune for the privilege of attending. At Donington Park access is also available, free of charge, to the infield, the pits and the paddock

I was also delighted by the article on Scott Mansell, surely a star of the future. Having contacted his team to congratulate them on his recent performance at Donington Park I am disappointed to read that his lap record, made as you point out sans ‘driver aids’, has been beaten by a fully equipped F2002 F1 Ferrari. But at least the Ferrari certainly looked and sounded the part, and unlike at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, it was accessible.
