Historic F2 splits again
The long-running saga of Historic Formula Two has taken another twist: the 1600cc cars and later 2-litres have once again split up.
Despite strenuous efforts, notably by 2003 organiser Terry Nightingale, to keep the classes together, the pre-1972 1600s are to switch over to the FORCE organisation in 2004.
The 2-litre cars are not part of that deal, but there’s a distinct possibility that they might join the FORCE’s F5000 grids next year.
Clouding the situation further is the recent creation of the European Formula Two Club by Swiss racer Oskar Christen, with the aim of running rival events for all F2 cars.
