Pakistan has forced the organisers of the Arts de Vivre Maharaja Rally to postpone next February’s event by 12 months. Event organiser John Davenport said the committee was forced to take the decision after last month’s coup in Pakistan. “After the upheaval in Pakistan, and with the Indian armed forces on major alert, the western part of Rajasthan became

less receptive to having a strange Antonov 124 parked on one of their principal military runways for 10 days. We would like to thank all those who have supported the event.” Currently the plan is to relaunch the luxurious event in the New Year to run in February and March 2001.
