VSCC Brooklands Sprint
To make up for the loss of its Weston-Super-Mare speed trials, the VSCC again held a 1/4-mile sprint along the Brooklands runway on October 6. No seaside holiday onlookers, no distant sea, but worthwhile for all that. F T D was made by J Hulberrs 1930 2.5 Alvis, in 17.78sen with a terminal velocity of 100mph (Woodlands Park Hotel Trophy). Next fastest vintage car was driven by Miss Peacop, who metaphorically got out of her familiar Morris Minor into the 6 1-litre aero-engined Gipsy-Riley to clock 17.03see (82mph) to take the Ladies’ Award.
