Great Auclum

Earlier this year MOTOR SPORT published my letter asking for information about the Great Auclum speed-trial/hill-climb near Reading. I had an excellent response and I would like to thank everyone for their valuable help. When I started my research I thought I would have difficulty gathering information on the earlier meetings, so in my letter I asked about the period from 1947 to 1958. However, the response I got was so good that I now have a scarcity of information about later meetings.

Could I therefore prevail on you to publish this appeal for results, photographs and memorabilia relating to the meetings which took place between 1962 and 1972. I would also like to hear from anyone who has thoughts or memories about Great Auclum. Finally may I offer my congratulations to the editorial staff of MOTOR SPORT for continuing to cater for the enthusiast by producing a magazine which successfully blends contemporary and historical topics, making it one of our sport’s finest institutions.
