Turner cards for Christmas
Christmas is only just round the corner, but it isn’t too late to order sets of Michael Turner motor sporting Christmas cards, colour reproductions of this artist’s famous paintings, which must be the most appropriate and attractive cards for any motoring enthusiast to send. The only unfortunate aspect is that the sender fails to reap the value of their beauty so it’s essential to persuade your friends to send them too! Two different sets of five cards and envelopes are available at 60 pence per set including VAT and postage and packing in the UK (overseas postage costs another one and 5 pence). Set 1 represents the world of Formula One and Two: Stewart at Monaco; Peterson leading the Swedish Grand Prix from Fittipaldi, Cevert, Stewart and Hulme; Revson taking the chequered flag in the British GP; Jacky Ickx’s Ferrari duelling with Follmer’s Shadow in the Spanish GP; and European F2 Champion Jean Pierre-Jarier clinching the title at Karlskoga. Set 2 contains Roger Clark’s Escort on the Welsh Rally; the Lancia Fulvia of Kallstrom/Billstam on the Swedish Rally; Larrousse/Pescarolo winning the Watkins Glen 6 Hours for Matra-Simca; European Touring Car Champion Toine Hezemans with the colourful, winning BMW CSL chased by a Capri at Zandvoort; and Shekhar Mehta/Lofty Drews on their way to a Safari win in the Datsun 240Z.
Large reproductions of a selection of Turner’s paintings are also available from the same source as the Christmas Cards: Studio 88 Ltd., 95 West End Lane, Pinner, Middlesex, HA5 3NU. These prints, depicting both motoring sport and aviation cost £2 each, with reductions on orders for larger numbers. Of equal interest to Motor Sport readers will be Studio 88’s reproductions of pre-war racing posters: 1933 Brooklands; 1934 Monaco GP; 1936 Donington; and a Bentley at Le Mans.
