A fast Minister
Some time ago Aerospace Minister Michael Heseltine was caught driving a Jaguar at speeds of, according to the Police evidence, 98 and 100 m.p.h. on the M4 near Burchfield, a Motorway which he had opened nine months previously. He was fined £20 and his licence endorsed, his high office not proving as efficacious as if he had been a lesser Government servant involved in an accident. One hopes that whenever the 70-limit is criticised as a waste of good Motorways Mr. Heseltine will agree.
