Unreliable Radar

A speeding charge against a motorist was dismissed as a flop in Dundee Sheriff Court recently after the radar apparatus used by the police to secure a conviction was demonstrated in Court and seen to behave in a completely undependable manner. Sheriff Inglis called it “a pretty unreliable machine.” It is time to consider whether public money should continue to be wasted on such apparatus, which from this demonstration, clearly cannot be relied on to check fairly the speed of passing vehicles, and any driver convicted in this way should endeavour to have the equipment brought to Court and operated before the Bench.
