BRDC Notes
In recent months a large number of enquiries have been received from would-be members of the British Racing Driven’ Club. It is pointed out that, normally, membership is confined to gentlemen who have competed in an open motor road-racing event or taken a first, second or third place award in a Brooklands Automobile Racing Club’s Meeting. Every candidate must be proposed by one and seconded by another member of the Club, to both of whom he is personally known.
Swedish Winter Grand Prix
The Grand Prix d’Hiver de Suede pour Automobiles will be run on February 9th next over a circuit having a hard snow surface. Supplementary regulations are not yet available, but it is that only racing cars complying with new formula will be eligible.
Australian Grand Prix
The newly-formed Australian Sporting Car Club (formerly the New South Wales Light Car Club) plans to organise the Australian Grand Prix on Easter Monday next (April 7th), using their interesting 3 7/8-mile course. The race distance will be 150 miles and substantial prize money will be offered. It will be recalled that Peter Whitehead won this race in his E.R.A. on the last occasion the Australian Grand Prix was run over the New South Wales circuit.
Club Christmas Cards
It is regretted that no further orders can be accepted for Christmas cards as they are completely sold out.
Racing Car Exhibition
Mike Couper is arranging an exhibition of racing cars at his St. Albans showrooms, to take place during the Christmas school holidays. Members willing to loan suitable cars for the period of the exhibition are urged to get in touch with Mr. Couper at W. M. Couper, Ltd., Catherine Street, St. Albans (Telephone St. Albans 4343). The cars will be carefully looked after and fully insured whilst in Mr. Couper’s custody.
