AN AMBITIOUS CHRISTMAS TRIAL

AN AMBITIOUS CHRISTMAS TRIAL

An ambitious trial will be held by the Ford Enthusiasts’ Club on Bank Holiday, December 27th, on private ground at Camberley if War Office permission to use this area comes to hand in time. The trial is to be divided into five enginesize classes, a saloon class, and classes for 8 h.p., 10 h.p.. and V8 Ford cars of late type. Place awards will be given in each category, depending on the number of starters in each class. Saloon and Ford entries will use standard tyres and axles. The engine-size classes will be subdivided into Novice and Expert categories by the organisers themselves, and thus Allard attempts to introduce a muchneeded handicap system into a trial, well known drivers going into the Experts’ class while ” border-line ” cases will run as Novices unless entering really potent cars. The point is that separate awards for Novices and Experts will be given in each capacity class, while only Experts may use comp. covers and solid axles. The hills, moreover, will each be divided into sections and a timed test will be used merely to sort out ties. No strict time limit will be imposed. A first entry in any class costs 10/and additional entries for any class for which an entrant is eligible, 5/per class. In addition, special Premier place awards irrespective of category can be competed for on pay ment of another 5/-. Teams of three will be accepted at 7/6 per team and again Expert and Novice sub-divisions will operate. It seems there will be ample prizes, but we shall be surprised if results come through the same day I The N.W.L.M.C. have accepted an invitation, and K.B.C.C., S.U.N.B.A.C., Southsea M.C., and Maidstone and Mid-Rent

M.C. are expected to do so. F.E.C. awards are of known high quality. Spectators can obtain maps of the area on application. Entries close on December 20th, and should go to the secretary of the meeting : W. Boddy, 21, Lucien Road, London, S.W.17. Streatham 5086.
