THE "LONDON-EXETER"

THE ” LONDON-EXETER “

SOME NEW ARRANGEMENTS

ONCE again we have come round to the month of the Motor Cycling Club’s classic London-toExeter Trial, and this will be the seventeenth of the series.

But this time there will be one or two changes in the arrangements ; for instance, coming as it does at the end of the Christmas holidays, it has been considered advisable to confine it to one day only, and to give the hardy souls who enter for the run a chance to reach home again the same night. Thus, the start will take place at 12.0i a.m. on Monday morning, 28th December, and the first man will be clue to finish at Shaftesbury at about 1.15 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The start will be from the Virginia Water New Tea House and Retaurant, Virginia Water on the London-Bagshot Road, half-a-mile from the 20th milestone from London. This point is best reached from London via Chiswick, Great West Road, Staines and Egham. A hot supper will be obtainable in the restaurant before the start, and there will be no supper stop at Shaftesbury on the outward journey. The usual breakfast arrangements stand, however, at Exeter.

As regards the route, this will practically be the same as that which met with such general approval last year, but the Black Hill test will be an ordinary stop-andrestart affair instead of an acceleration test.

Intending competitors should note that the closing date for entries for the trial is Monday next, 7th December, while application for election as members to the club must be made by the same date.

The honorary secretary of the M.C.C. is Mr. J. A. Masters, and his address is 22, Norland Square, Kensington, London, W.11.
