ROAD TRANSPORT LIGHTING BILL.
ROAD TRANSPORT LIGHTING BILL. Public Safety Flouted.
The Automobile Association has written to all A.A. members who are Members of Parliament, drawing attention to the present situation in relation to the Road Transport Lighting Bill and urging their personal consideration of the public safety aspect. It is pointed out that a fundamental principle of the
Bill is two front lights for all double track vehicles, but that the whole Bill is being held up owing to the acceptance of an amendment which would permit all horse drawn vehicles engaged in agricultural operations to carry only one front light.
The Association stresses the fact that the a mendmeni was never discussed on its merits, but accepted purely on the ground that it is usual to give concessions to agriculture, the result being that human life is to be endangered for the economy of one oil lamp.
