Obituary – John Bishop
One of the most influential figures in American racing, John Bishop has died aged 87. Bishop was a key player in the Sports Car Club of America, joining in the 1950s and becoming its executive director.
He was a prime mover behind the US Road Racing Championship, Can-Am and Trans-Am.
Known for his warm, open management style, Bishop left the SCCA in 1969 and co-founded IMSA, which he ran until retiring in 1989.
