Seeing the light

Seeing the light

Sir,

Since Formula 1 drivers claim not to be able to see very much in their mirrors (e.g. Button and Hamilton in Canada) is it not time that they were mandated of a larger size?

In poor visibility F1 drivers (and those in other categories) are obliged to switch on their bright red rear light to reduce the risk of a rearend impact (remember Brundle and Senna in the rain at Adelaide?). As white running lights at the front are now a requirement for new road cars, should not F1 also adopt this feature for use in bad weather? Mervyn Pritchard, Marchamley, Shrewsbury
