Pete Lovely

A long-time fixture at Laguna Seca, having won the first race there in a Testa Rossa in 1957, Pete Lovely died in May at the age of 85.

His lengthy career covered sports cars, including his Cooper-Porsche Tooper’, a works Lotus Fl drive in 1959 and a series of privateer Lotus Grand Prix entries, transporting his 49B on the back of a VW pick-up. A VW dealer, he switched to vintage racing in the 1980s, and also opened a restoration shop.
