A truly remarkable 90-minute disc showing more fascinating glimpses of motorsport through the ages. Introduced by the estimable Doug Nye from the treasure trove that is his office, its homely feel fails to detract from his and David Weguelin’s enthusiasm. Segments include remarkable colour footage of the 1947 Jersey International Road Race and Bugatti publicity material for the then-new Type 35 from the 1924 Grand Prix de l’ACF at Lyon-Givors. More recent is the 1978 BL promo film charting the rally exploits of Tony Pond and Fred Gallagher in the works Triumph TR8. There’s also an oddity that follows a group of enthusiasts on their way to the 1954 Monte Carlo Rally. Abroad really was foreign in those days and, as Nye chuckles, the charming piece is “utterly barking”. PH
