Eddie Jordan – An independent man
Eddie Jordan
To some a racer through and through, to others a fame-chasing self-publicist, Eddie Jordan polarises opinion.
The latter-day Bad Boy Racers TV show host and former F1 team owner gives very much his own account of his time in motorsport. It’s entertaining too, EJ recounting life as a driver – from rallying a Triumph 2.5PI to racing a BMW M1 at Le Mans – before moving on to his time as a team owner in the junior formulae.
It really gets interesting when the story revolves around his F1 squad – Bernie E’s involvement in Benetton poaching Michael Schumacher from under EJ’s nose, Bertrand Gachot’s jail term and the cracking ’99 season. Very enjoyable to dip into although some drivers – not least Heinz-Harald Frentzen – will inevitably have a different view of events! RH
