Ultimate 962 at Silverstone
Derek Bell will race what is widely thought to be the ultimate Porsche 962 in the Group C/GTP races at the Silverstone Classic in July.
The car now owned by Mark Sumpter was the last Porsche to win a World Sportscar Championship race in the Group C era when Bob Wollek won at Dijon in 1989, during a season dominated by the Mercedes team. The Joest team then extensively developed the car to compete in GTP racing in America.
“It doesn’t get any better than sharing a 962 with Derek Bell on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit,” said Sumpter.
The 50th anniversary of the Lotus Elite will also be celebrated at Silverstone. Up to 50 Elites will be there, including the Le Mans class winners and the ex-Les Leston Elite ‘DAD 10’.
